The work

At Swamp Fox Agency I move commercial trucking and logging accounts from intake to bind through excess & surplus channels, with access to Lloyd's syndicates. These are hard risks (the standard market won't touch them), so every account has to be built into something a market will actually write.

The approach

The job starts with the file: building the submission, reading FMCSA and CAB safety records, and profiling the loss history honestly. Then it's pricing discipline: working the account until the price reflects the risk and the risk is one the market can take. No shortcuts; underwriters at Lloyd's have seen every trick.

What it taught me
Risk work is detail work. The difference between a bound account and a declined one is usually buried in the third page of a safety report. That habit (reading the whole file, pricing what's actually there) is the same habit I bring to building software.
